Puppy Leash Training
Puppy leash training is great to get your dog accustomed to walk by your side with the help of a leash. This strange object with training will feel natural, and your dog will learn from the early stages of his life to walk by your side. This is a very basic type of training. To start you must introduce the leash to the puppy.
Leashes are not normal for dogs, they are just a human invention, so you have to help your puppy feel it is more natural. Just imagine if you suddenly had something hang on your neck - wouldn”t it feel uncomfortable? Well, the same happens to our puppies, so the first few days don”t make any type of training session just put your dog the leash and get him used to the feeling.
Once your dog has got used to the leash, it is time to go to the “training” part. When a dog walks with you, he must never pull the leash or fall behind. Ideally, he should work at your side keeping the same pace as you. For this, you”ll have to teach the puppy not to pull the leash. A very simple way to do this is to stand firm as a mountain. Every time the puppy starts pulling the leash, stop moving completely and don”t move until you feel the puppy has given up and is releasing the tension.
If your puppy is fighting to avoid the leash, you will need to arm yourself with patience and reward him every time he lets you put the leash for puppy leash training.
Try to keep leash training sessions short and keep in mind that puppies and dogs learn better while entertained. Keep things fun! You”ll have fun too!
