Aggressive Dog Behavior
If you notice that your dog is constantly growling, showing his teeth and biting, you are being witness of aggressive dog behavior. This is a potentially dangerous behavior for you and your guests, as your dog starts to react violently to people and situations. As a dog owner one must act instantly to correct this problem and keep it from getting bigger and even including legal problems.
There are different types of dog aggressive behavior, each one of them has a different root problem, let’’s take a look at some of them:
Fear Aggression
When a dog is nervous and feels cornered, he is left with nothing but an aggressive reaction. Anxiety starts to build up, and every little thing or every person irritates him. The aggression can be expressed as growling, barking, biting, baring teeth or all of them! Though dogs with these kind of aggression usually bite only when they feel cornered and with lots of stress.
Dominance Aggression
This type of aggression is
shown from your dog to express dominance over you. Dogs are animals that are naturally grouped in packs. In these packs there is always a dominant dog and so your dog tries to fill that hole. His weapon is intimidation, and within a family, he may only respect the owners or just a few members of the family.
Territorial aggression
Territorial aggression can be exerted over his “den” or over his “food”. The dog feels that his belongings are threatened and reacts by attacking all potential aggressors. This type of aggression is very common even against owners.
These are the most common types of aggression, but there are others like maternal aggression, punishment aggression and predatory aggression. You must learn to know which one your dog has and act quickly to correct it through proper dog obedience training.
